The attribution excuse generator

Twenty-four reasons your ad platform, GA4 and CRM disagree. Every one of them comes with what is actually going on, and what to do about it on Monday.

P1 is revenue-impacting or data-corrupting. P2 is degraded but working. P3 is optimisation.

Press the button and blame something.

Why the numbers never match

Every quarter, somewhere, a marketer opens three tabs and finds three different answers to one question. LinkedIn says 48 leads. GA4 says 31. The CRM says 26, and four of those are the same person filling in the form twice from two devices.

None of those systems is broken. They are measuring different things, on different clocks, with different definitions, and reporting all of it with total confidence. That is the part nobody says out loud in the reporting call, which is why the excuses in this tool exist.

The four causes behind most of the gap

The honest position: you will never get these systems to agree, and chasing a perfect match wastes quarters. What you can do is pick one system for budget decisions, usually the CRM, label every chart with where the number came from, and triangulate with self-reported source and the occasional holdout test.

What we do about it

We embed inside B2B SaaS teams and this is a large part of the first month: instrument what is actually happening, agree the definitions in writing, and get one number everyone trusts enough to spend against. It is unglamorous and it changes every conversation that follows.

Tired of guessing which number is real?

We embed senior demand gen operators inside B2B SaaS teams, and we start by making the reporting trustworthy.
